1. Transaction fee (6.5%)

Etsy charges 6.5% of the item price plus shipping. This is the core fee on every sale. On a $40 item with $5 shipping, that's 6.5% of $45 = $2.93.

2. Payment processing fee (3% + $0.25)

Etsy processes the buyer's payment and takes 3% + $0.25 of the full amount charged (including shipping and sales tax where applicable). On that $45 order: 3% × $45 + $0.25 = $1.60.

This fee exists whether the buyer pays by card, PayPal, or Apple Pay — Etsy handles it all.

3. Listing fee ($0.20 per listing)

If a sale comes through Etsy's offsite advertising (Google, Instagram, etc.), you pay a commission on the sale — and it's big:
